One way to take good care of it is to make sure you start your day with some of the vitamins and nutrients that will help keep your immune system in great shape. The eggs will also offer Vitamin D which may help lower your risk of contracting the common cold.

Yogurt Parfait with Blueberries, Strawberries, and Almonds

Yogurt isn’t just a source for a protein boost in the morning or a good source of calcium. It also has Vitamins B6 & B12. Add some Blueberries and Strawberries for Vitamin C, and of course some antioxidants. Then top it all off with some crushed or sliced Almonds with Vitamin E with boosts your immune system and you’ve got a perfect immune system boosting start to your day. Bonus: it’s delicious!

Avocado Whole-grain Toast with side of Apple & Orange Salad

Avocado toast is more than just a fad. Avocado is a great source of Vitamin E. You’ll also get some Vitamins C and B6, which will make your immune system happy. Whole-grain toast should contain some zinc which may help you fight a common cold. Add in a simple salad of apple pieces and orange slices and you’ll have a Vitamin C powerhouse. Not to mention this is just a good, well-balanced vegetarian way to start your day off right!

Potato, Broccoli, and Red Pepper Hash with Sunny Side Up Egg

Broccoli isn’t always on everyone’s breakfast food list, but this nutritional powerhouse really should be. Apart from being a great source of dietary fiber many of us need in the morning and a good source of folic acid and the B vitamins, Broccoli has immunity boosters Vitamins C, E, and B-6—which makes it a self-contained immunity trifecta. The red pepper will add some always welcome Vitamin C as will the potato, along with some more Vitamin B-6. Throw on an egg for another B-6 boost and you’ll have a great breakfast to keep your body and your immune system in tip-top shape.
