Every college or university student needs the right tools to make the most of their study and homework time. We’ve scoured the web and come up with the sever browser extension every college student needs to maximize their productivity.
1 – Grammarly
We know you’re probably an amazing self-editor, but even the greatest grammarian can use a little help sometimes. Enter Grammarly, the browser plugin that checks your writing for spelling and grammar oopsies and boo-boos that your professor is bound to ding your grade over. While there are paid options that make Grammarly an even more valuable tool, the free version is still going to be worth its weight in gold for most students.
2 – Todoist
Look, every student is only as good as their organization skills. You’ve got a lot of classes and a lot of responsibilities for each class—throw in an internship or some group projects and things can get pretty wild. That’s where Todoist comes in, to help you organize your to-do lists with its robust but simple interface. Give it a try and you’ll never want to give it up!
3 – Google Scholar
Chances are you’ve started using Google Scholar anyway to look for academic sources and to help you save time making those long MLA or APA citations. If your college or university library is integrated, then this resource becomes even more valuable for you as it tells you what your own library has available for you. You won’t even need to go to a separate tab to immediately check for academic articles and books you need to support your thesis!
4 – Google Dictionary
This might seem like an unnecessary addition to your plugin bar, but it’s actually a pretty handy tool. If you want to know the definition of a word, just double-click it and the definition pops up in a little window for you. It’s a real timesaver when you’re rushing to finish a term paper!
5 – Pocket
Pocket is one of those plugins you have to start using to truly understand its value. It basically allows you to save the sources you’re using so they’re not only available if you are without internet, but so that they’re available on all your devices. If you’re the type who works on your papers wherever you are, whether it’s at your work-study job, or in the library, or in your dorm room—Pocket is going to become your best friend.
6 – StayFocusd
Ok, we’d all like to pretend we don’t need a plugin like StayFocusd, but the reality is that most of us do. So if you’re like the millions of other people who accidentally spend two hours on youtube instead of working on your paper, StayFocusd is definitely the plugin for you. It allows you to completely block time-wasting sites or to simply limit the amount of time you allow yourself to spend on them. Either way, your productivity is bound to go up with this little plugin!
7 – Spreed
There are few things any college student needs more than a little extra time. That’s where Spreed can save the day. Spreed allows you to take any text and paste it into its speed reader to help you shoot through the reading you need to do at two or three times your normal speed. This is a plugin every student should check out!
